In support of the refusal of the military base in Vicenza
14 December 2007

Dear sisters and brothers,

We send greetings to your three-day Europe in Vicenza demonstration on 13-15 December against the enlargement of the Dal Molin airport and its planned use as a US base.  We will be supporting your action with leafleting on 14 December in front of the Italian Embassy in London.

Your actions to stop the Dal Molin military base are a great contribution to the international movement against Bush’s “endless war” and against Italian governments, of the left and the right, which are taking part in this genocidal plan.

We are particularly struck by how women - the first carers in every community - are taking a leading role in your campaign.  Women are increasingly making visible their caring work as central to international movements against war, whether it is in blockades, boycotts, marches, supporting conscientious objectors and other refuseniks, and refusing to be soldiers themselves.

Please keep us informed about the developments.  We will publicize your campaign on our websites and in the countries where our network is based.  We wish you victory in what is also our struggle.

Invest in caring, not killing,

Didi Rossi
