Victory to the farmers and all workers! 26 March Bharat Bandh (All India Strike)
Statement from striking farmers at Ghazipur Border, Delhi, sent to us today “Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers organizations spearheading the ongoing farmer protest in India, has called for a Bharat Bandh (All India Strike) on 26th March. Extensive preparations are underway all over the country for this. This Bandh is not just related to the question of rolling back of the three farm laws and the right to sell crops at Minimum Support Price but also, rolling back of four labour code laws, stopping the selling of government and public sector enterprises, growing inflation, employment for youth and women's safety. Except for ruling party BJP-related Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, all central trade unions have extended their full support for this Bandh. Some of India's prominent trade associations, transport associations, student unions, youth organisations, women's organizations and intellectuals are also in support of this Bandh. Along with the Left parties, several regional parties have also extended their support. On 26th March there will also be a drive to defeat BJP in upcoming elections in the five states- West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry. Other states are also ready and extensively prepared for the Bandh. The programme includes blocking the roads and railways, closure of markets and other proceedings. We appeal to people, unions and organizations across the globe to extend their solidarity and amplify the voice of the farmers movement.” Purshottam Sharma, National Secretary, All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM), From Ghazipur Border Picket India The farmers camps on
